My research interests center on experimental chemistry, natural products, formulation science, functional materials, and the translation of chemical research into practical applications.
I am particularly interested in research that bridges fundamental science and real-world needs, especially projects with the potential to lead to new materials, useful products, environmental solutions, or emerging technologies.
My current research interests include:
- Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
- Natural Products
- Functional Materials
- Formulation Science
- Environmental Chemistry
- Water Treatment
- Sustainable Materials
- Applied Physics
- Scientific Instrumentation
More broadly, I am interested in interdisciplinary research that combines chemistry, materials science, engineering, and applied physics to develop technologies that can improve human health, environmental quality, and everyday life.
Essential-Oil Emulsion Research
I participated in a research project focused on the extraction and formulation of an emulsion based on Plectranthus amboinicus essential oil. The project introduced me to scientific research beyond the classroom and gave me experience with experimental preparation, laboratory observation, data collection, research discussion, and the process of developing scientific findings into a manuscript. The study has been accepted for publication in Pharmaceutical Sciences Asia.
This experience was especially important to me because it showed how a research question develops over time. Research rarely follows a simple path from hypothesis to conclusion; experimental conditions may need to be adjusted, unexpected results must be interpreted carefully, and every conclusion must be supported by evidence.
Working on this project strengthened my interest in chemistry and also introduced me to scientific publication as an essential part of the research process. It helped me understand that communicating results clearly and accurately is just as important as conducting the experiments themselves.
Perilla Essential Oil and Aloe Vera Soothing Gel
I also worked on a project focused on developing a soothing gel formulated with perilla essential oil and aloe vera. The project explored how naturally derived materials could be incorporated into a functional formulation and brought together ideas from extraction, chemistry, formulation science, product development, and experimental testing. The project received a Gold Award at the International Science and Invention Fair 2025 – Offline Competition.
Although receiving the award was meaningful, I valued the experimental process even more. The project helped me understand the difference between studying the properties of an individual substance and designing a formulation in which multiple components must work together effectively.
This experience strengthened my interest in applied chemistry, functional materials, formulation science, and product-oriented research, and it showed me how scientific ideas can be developed into practical products.
What Research Has Taught Me
Research has changed the way I approach problems. Before entering the laboratory, it is easy to imagine science as a sequence of correct procedures leading to correct answers, but actual research is much more uncertain and demanding. Experiments can fail, results can be ambiguous, and even a small change in preparation can alter an outcome. Sometimes the most valuable result is discovering that an assumption was wrong. Through these experiences, I have learned that good research requires patience, careful observation, critical thinking, and a willingness to revise an idea when the evidence does not support it. These are skills I hope to continue developing in university and throughout my future research.
